Design & Configurations
Our Submerged Arc Furnace Transformers are available in three-phase systems and in banks of three single-phase transformers for higher capacities.
Three-Phase Units
We offer three robust configurations:
- Integrated Tap Windings – Tap windings in series with the main HT windings within a single core frame and tank, equipped with an On-Load Tap Changer (OLTC).
- Autotransformer in Common Tank – Tap windings separated through an autotransformer in addition to the main transformer, both housed within a common tank.
- Autotransformer in Separate Tank – Tap windings connected through an autotransformer with OLTC in a separate tank, while the main transformer is placed in a different tank.
Single-Phase Units
Our single-phase transformer banks are designed for high-capacity applications exceeding 15 MVA, available in three distinct configurations for maximum operational flexibility.
Benefits & Advantages
- High durability, reliability, and operational efficiency
- Multiple configurations for diverse industrial requirements

FAQ
Which transformer is used in an arc furnace?
An Arc Furnace Transformer, typically an oil-immersed step-down transformer, is used in an electric arc furnace. It converts high-voltage input to low-voltage, high-current output necessary for the arc generation, enabling efficient melting of metals in steel plants and foundries.
What is the purpose of a furnace transformer?
A furnace transformer is designed to supply the high-current, low-voltage power required for melting and heating metals in industrial furnaces. It ensures stable electrical output, controls thermal load variations, and withstands frequent short-circuit conditions during the furnace’s operational cycles.
Which transformer is used in arc welding?
An arc welding transformer is a step-down transformer that reduces high-voltage input to a low, safe voltage with high current. It is used in manual and automatic arc welding applications to generate the arc necessary for joining metals through intense localized heating.
